CZR prepared the Environmental Impact Statement for a proposed 20-year mining advance which included an evaluation of general environmental impacts such as fauna, flora, endangered/threatened species, water quality, air quality, socio-economics, and estuarine environments on a 14,200 acre mining property. Additional activity tasks following EIS approval: jurisdictional wetland delineations, CAMA area delineations, piezometer monitoring, alternatives analysis, HEP analysis, and wetland mitigation design. Permits were issued for mining of a 4,900 acre tract, including 1,268 acres of wetland. Mitigation included restoration of 2,800 acres of prior converted cropland to mixed hardwood and bottomland habitat. In preparation for subsequent mine continuation, CZR has prepared a draft EIS for a 25-50 year mine advance. The continuing tasks include state and federal permitting, and mitigation for extensive unavoidable stream and wetland impacts. Mitigation tasks include site selection and evaluation, design, construction management, and success monitoring.
